Course description

This course is designed to equip learners with evidence-based strategies to effectively manage exam-related anxiety and foster a confident, prepared mindset. Through psychological principles, practical techniques, and self-regulation methods, participants will gain insight into the causes of exam anxiety and develop the skills to perform under pressure. Emphasis is placed on building emotional resilience, cultivating positive thinking patterns, and enhancing academic performance through structured interventions.

Course objectives

  1. Identify the psychological and physiological symptoms of exam anxiety.
  2. Examine the cognitive and behavioural factors that influence exam performance.
  3. Demonstrate practical anxiety-reduction techniques such as deep breathing, mindfulness, and time management.
  4. Construct a personalised exam preparation plan that integrates psychological coping strategies.
  5. Evaluate progress in confidence and stress management using reflective tools. 

Course outcome:

1.      Describe key indicators of exam-related stress and anxiety.

2.      Differentiate between productive and unproductive thought patterns during exam preparation.

3.      Apply suitable stress-reduction strategies in simulated academic scenarios.

4.      Develop and organise a structured study routine incorporating confidence-building practices.

5.      Assess their emotional preparedness and make necessary adjustments for future academic tasks.
