Total learning hours: 20 hrs of learning+10 hrs of the webinar.

Topic-1: ECG-basics –normal ECG and abnormal ECGs in various cardiac disorders.
Topic-2: Coronary artery disease: Pathogenesis, diagnosis, and management of acute coronary syndromes and chronic stable angina.

Learning Outcome

The trainee will learn about the basics of diagnosis and management of common adult cardiac diseases using ECG and other simple tests and will learn to assess the patients of coronary artery disease cases to give the primary treatment and facilitate the timely referral to the specialist in cardiovascular diseases.

Curriculum

  1. ECG interpretation-normal, Acute Coronary Syndromes, and chronic stable angina, Tachy-and-brady-arrhythmias – Sinus node disease and AV blocks, Pericardial/myocardial diseases Pulmonary Embolism; Pulmonary hypertension, ECG effects of drugs/medications, Electrolyte-imbalances, etc.
  2. Ischemic heart disease syndromes –symptoms and the clinical evaluation; Acute coronary syndromes and chronic ischemic syndromes diagnosis and management: basics of common drugs used, coronary angiogram. Angioplasty and CABG surgery; Secondary and primary prevention of CAD.

Cardiologist
Dr. Amar Narayan Patnaik qualified in Cardiology in 1999 from Delhi University and has worked as a postgraduate faculty in the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences. After his retirement, he served as a Senior Consultant at Star Hospitals, Hyderabad. He is a PG teacher for the last 20 years. He was also awarded FSCAI and FACC. He has trained many students in acquiring their DM/DNB degrees in Cardiology. He has published nearly 60 papers, four chapters in books, and participated in many international trials, CMEs, and national and international conferences. Besides teaching and research, he has a keen interest in interventional cardiology. He is associated with Texila University as a course coordinator for Non-invasive cardiology, member of BOE and BOS for the past five years.
